Tales of The Fiery River
We hope our new collection will bring you the joy of a warm reunion. It came together gradually over the past three years. While creating the candles, we immersed ourselves in the world of early spring, flowing rivers, and enchanting fairy tales — these images found their way into the wax and transformed into the first series of candles, Svetlica.

Around the house and yard flows The Fiery River. No one will cross this river, swim across it, drive across it, or fly over it
The name of the collection references the image of the fiery river found in East Slavic fairy tales, epics, and incantations. Its symbolism is multifaceted: in some sources, it acts as a barrier, while in others, it provides protection. Sometimes, its waters are resinous and burning, and in other tales, the water of the fiery river bestows strength upon heroes.
What further connects Svetlica to rivers is that "Svetlitsa" is also the name of three actual rivers: a tributary of the Kama, the Nymvyd, and the Cheptsa.
In spring, the natural world awakens, filled with water bubbles beneath fragile ice, dewdrops on fresh grasses, and budding leaves on branches that, for now, resemble small dots. The knowledge that spring always follows a cold winter is simple, yet each time, it feels like a revelation — a sense of relief washes over you when you step outside and are greeted by the first warm air. A similar relief occurs in fairy tales when the hero recalls their magical object during a trial and manages to survive, save the princess, or defeat Koschei...
Transformation (or transfiguration, as described by Vladimir Propp) is one of the core functions of a fairy tale. But transformation isn’t confined to the world of stories; it happens all around us. A handful of dots bloom into a cluster of flowers, and a caterpillar cocoons, become a moth. We wish it were as easy to write what we will become after what we are experiencing now... But whatever the future holds, we hope that Svetlica candles can be a magical object for you in these challenging times.

Svetlica Tiny Tapers
Svetlica Tiny Tapers: tailor-made to fit Jens H. Quistgaard’s Dansk Designs candleholders. We have fallen so deeply in love with Jens Quistgaard’s candleholders that we decided to create special candles just for them. (Funnily enough, this is almost exactly how one of Dansk Designs’ ads from the 1960s began.) We’ve prepared two types of candles in different lengths, plus a few vintage candleholders if you don’t have one at home. Explore more here.
