In these times, we celebrate life, feel longing, experience loss,
rejoice in reunions, evenings, nature, and ourselves. A candle lights up
these moments and offers warmth to help us embrace them.
Svetlica beeswax candles embody the scent and color
of the sweet herbs from the land where the wax was gathered.
In the bees’ delicate legs, the nectar of plants underwent several
transformations before becoming a candle.
Welcome it as you would a flower — before lighting,
take a moment to inhale its aroma and think of something kind.
Svetlica candles are hand-made without the use of molds,
so each one varies slightly in size and weight.
Sculpted from beeswax collected
from selected apiaries, they carry the essence
of its terroir — unique scent and color.

Svetlica (since 2021) grew like a little forest mushroom, slowly and steadily, and now it peeks out from the low grass — because here you are, having found us! Welcome and hello!
For the Eastern Slavs, a svetlitsa was a bright, dry space in the home where women gathered to work on crafts and spend time together. Something similar happens in our Svetlica: I handcraft candles using the ancient pouring technique, collect stories from the world of bees, draw, and write — for instance, this very text.
A significant part of my childhood was spent at my grandfather’s apiary — surrounded by the hum of bees in an apple orchard, gathering tinder fungi for the smoker, and breathing in the honey-sweet air of the bathhouse. I still love reading his beekeeper’s journal. It’s quite technical but to me, deeply tender and poetic: in it, my grandfather lists nectar-bearing plants, notes the year’s first bee flights, praises the bees when they “work well,” and marks the days when the linden trees bloom — signaling the start of the linden honey harvest.
That’s why in Svetlica, I create candles exclusively from beeswax. It’s a sculptural and vibrant material, endlessly fascinating to explore. My experiments with techniques continually lead to new designs. What matters most to me is that wax exists at the intersection of human and nature’s coexistence. ♡ Nastia Grigoriadi
